Reminder – Structural Awards Deadline Extended

The Structural Awards 2013; your chance to win the industry’s highest accolade.

The deadline for entry to the Structural Awards 2013 has been extended to Friday 26 April 2013.

Winning an award symbolises your creativity, ingenuity and position as a world-class structural designer at the forefront of the industry.

Find out more about the awards and the entry requirements by visiting the new, dedicated Structural Awards website. You can also view previous winners and commended projects, such as Melbourne’s West Gate Bridge strengthening, which won last year’s Supreme Award for Structural Engineering Excellence.

To enter a project, please complete the entry form before the deadline: Friday 19 April.

Online Lecture – Titanic Experience Belfast

Tralee Lecture – Convention Centre Dublin

The Regional Group Prize-winning lecture on the Convention Centre Dublin will be held in IT Tralee on Wednesday 10 April 2013. The Branch is hosting the event, in association with Engineers Ireland, An Ríocht.

Abstract:
The Convention Centre Dublin (CCD) centrally located on Spencer Dock on the north bank of the River Liffey in Dublin City Centre is Ireland’s new world-class, purpose-built international conference and event venue. The CCD with its iconic status combined with spacious, flexible and elegant conference halls, leading-edge technology and an extensive range of support services will provide an exceptional venue for Irish and International conferences and corporate events,. The Centre caters for all types of events, from large conferences and product fairs for up to 8,000 delegates, as well as for Award Ceremonies, Gala Dinners, Board Meetings, Breakfast Meetings, Training Sessions and Seminars, Christmas Parties, Press Launches etc.

Speaker:
Ken Moriarty, BSc, CEng, MIEI, MIStructE, Director, O’Connor Sutton Cronin Multidiscipline Consulting Engineers has worked with O’Connor Sutton Cronin for over sixteen years and has a wealth of experience in Structural Engineering working on a wide variety of complex structures and deep basements which have included, for example, office developments at Mespil/Burlington Road and Herbert Street, in addition to the iconic Convention Centre Dublin development. Ken is a Chartered Structural Engineer and is a recipient of the European Concrete Societies Network (ECSN) award for his role in the National Gallery of Ireland Extension in 2004.

Open House Dublin

The Irish Architecture Foundation is proud to present Open House Dublin, the biggest celebration of architecture in Ireland. Open House Dublin 2013 will take place from 4 to 6 October 2013. Over one weekend, almost 100 buildings of all types and periods will open up their doors to allow citizens and visitors to explore the architecture of their city, with special tours by hundreds of professionals and enthusiasts, completely for free.
