Health Sciences Faculty At St. James’ Hospital (No.14 Nov-02)

FOR TRINITY COLLEGE DUBLIN – PHASES 2 & 3

The project comrpises the construction of 12,000m² of teaching and research accommodation for occupational and physiotherapy and related activities. It is situated adjoining the Phase 1 Health Science Faculty, which was constructed some 12 years ago. Education Pilot PPPs Near Completion (No.14 Nov-02)

In April 2001, under the Government’s pilot Public-Private-Partnership, the Department of Education selected Jarvis Projects to oversee the construction and running of five post-primary schools throughout Ireland under the NDP to cater for nearly 3,500 pupils. Under the €81.5m scheme, Jarvis will design, build, finance and operate the schools for 25 years, during which it will be responsible for maintenance, cleaning, security and IT support. IPD Development of Chartered Structural Engineers (No.14 Nov-02)

The Institution of Structural Engineers published new regulations in 2000 for all applicants for membership of the Institution. We are currently in a transition period with the phasing out of the old scheme described as the ” Professional Development Incorporating a Record of Practical Training” and the full implementation of the new requirements for membership. The new regulations are described as the “Initial Professional Development (IPD) of candidates leading to the Professional review for Chartered Membership”. Read the rest of this entry »

Development at Pearse Street Library (No.14 Nov-02)

Pearse Street Library, formally Great Brunswick Street was first opened 1st April 1909. The 3 storey building was designed by the Architect, C J McCarthy who also designed Tara Street Fire Station and the Technical College at Bolton Street. The structural form of the building comprises timber trussed roof structure and timber floors supported on a combination of steel frames and load bearing masonry walls. The front façade comprises sandstone and limestone with the remaining facades in brickwork. The basement comprises mass concrete walls. Read the rest of this entry »
